Worldwide: Expedia Group is streamlining its compensation models to align with industry standards, with changes to be implemented on 29 October 2026.

The changes include:

  • Vrbo Partners will move to a fixed 12% commission fee. This does not apply to partners in specific regions who are already paying more than 12% under existing arrangements.
  • Partners on the legacy subscription model (a flat annual fee) will transition to the Pay-Per-Booking model with a 12% commission fee.

“This change ensures we provide travellers the best rates possible, allowing us to maintain competitiveness and drive incremental demand for our partners,” a statement from Expedia Group read.

Highlights:

  • Expedia Group will change its Vrbo partner compensation models on 29 October 2026, moving toward a standardised commission structure aligned with industry practices.
  • Most Vrbo partners will move to a fixed 12% commission fee, although partners in certain regions already paying more than 12% under existing agreements will not be affected by this change.
  • Partners currently using Vrbo’s legacy subscription model will transition to Pay-Per-Booking, with a 12% commission fee replacing the flat annual subscription.
  • Expedia Group said the changes are intended to help maintain competitive traveller pricing while supporting incremental demand for Vrbo partners.
